UX: Forward thinking…

Forward thinking.  We all want to believe that is one of our core values, but what do we really doing to have our products or services reflect this.

UX is much more than simply how a website looks and feels, it  is a way of creating the environment that the user will interact with you.
It’s an extension of your business, and in turn, your vision for the product or service you are providing.

A UX plan has four basic questions that need to be answered:

Where am I? ?

Where are we going?

How will you get there?

Did it work?

These questions can be expanded into more questions, drilling down as granular as we need to get the answers we need.  Let’s look briefly at some of the high level questions we can start with.

Where are you now?

  • What is our value added? what are our problems?
  • How is the product helping the company?
  • What are our competitors doing better than us? worse than us?

Where do you want to be?

  • What is our product doing to benefit our users?
  • How can we improve or increase that benefit?
  • How can we find ways to improve or how we increase how users access us?
  • How do users interact with our product?

How do we get there?

  • Plan the product development so that you can continue to develop enhancements and find out the user stories to deal with product shortcomings.

Did it work?

  • What does success look like?
  • What are the benchmarks for your goals?
  • How will you check or test that you had success?.

You products and services will grow over time. That is why establishing a consistent and sustainable UX plan will help ensure that you are staying current with your customers and
in the top of your business arena.
Being able to track your designs and decisions back to a common vision.
By staying adaptable and maintaining a forward looking vision, you can remain a constant presence your users will continue to look to.
